This year marks the 40th edition of the world’s largest DJ competition, the DMC World DJ Championships, which will be held in Tokyo - the first time ever in Asia.
In this milestone year, DMC celebrates its 40th anniversary, while its longtime partner Technics, born in Japan, also celebrates its 60th anniversary.

Japan - the birthplace of the legendary Technics SL-1200 turntable, the home of the CLASSIC World Champions DJ KENTARO, DJ IZOH, DJ YUTO, and DJ RENA, BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY champions DJ AKAKABE, DJ CO-MA, DJ YUKICHI, and DJ MATSUNAGA, as well as five-time TEAM World Champion KIREEK - will set the stage for two days of intense battles.  

On the second day, Sun, Oct 12th, the event moves to HARLEM for THE OPEN. In this new DMC category, DJs will compete over a 12-minute set, showcasing their skills in seamless mixing and storytelling. By removing equipment restrictions, this category opens the door to the most free and innovative forms of expression.

The guest lineup includes CRAZE, a bass music icon and three-time DMC World Champion; DJ KOCO aka Shimokita, renowned for his performances manipulating 7-inch records; and nasthug, who has risen as an icon of the new generation.

On the first day, Sat, Oct 11th, at O-EAST, the world champions will be crowned in three categories: CLASSIC, BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY, and SCRATCH BATTLE. The guest showcases will feature an exclusive reunion of the legendary DJ unit KIREEK, five-time consecutive World Champions; Skratch Bastid, who brings his globally renowned Bastid’s BBQ series; a special session between Japanese turntablist pioneer DJ KENTARO and trumpeter Takuya Nakamura; and the iconic Invisibl Skratch Piklz with Q-bert, Shortkut, and D-Styles. In addition, a Hall of Fame ceremony will be held to honor the legends who have made a significant impact on the growth of turntablism and DJ culture.
